SP Balasubrahmanyam is ‘aware and responsive,’ Chennai hospital says | Chennai News

CHENNAI: Playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who was admitted to MGM Healthcare in Chennai with Covid-19, stays on ventilator and ECMO help, stated a medical bulletin issued by the hospital on Wednesday night.
“His present scientific situation is secure. He is aware and responsive,” stated the bulletin issued by hospital assistant director (medical providers) Dr Anuradha Baskaran.
“He is carefully monitored by our multidisciplinary scientific workforce,” it stated.
The 74-year-old singer was admitted to hospital on August 5 with delicate signs. His situation deteriorated on August 13.
On Saturday, the hospital stated: “Our multidisciplinary scientific workforce is actively collaborating with worldwide consultants from reputed centres within the US and the UK which have witnessed giant volumes of Covid-19 sufferers requiring ECMO help.”
“The worldwide consultants concur with the scientific care that’s being supplied by our medical workforce to SP Balasubrahmanyam,” it stated.
While the ventilator makes use of stress to blow oxygenated air into the lungs, the ECMO pumps blood to a heart-lung machine, which removes carbon dioxide and returns oxygen-filled blood again to tissues.
