PM Modi inaugurates Chennai-Andaman & Nicobar submarine optical cable challenge

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurates the submarine optical fibre cable (OFC) connecting Chennai and Andaman & Nicobar via video conferencing. The challenge is claimed to offer an enormous enhance to the native economic system.
The basis stone for this challenge was laid by PM Modi on December 30, 2018 at Port Blair.
At an interplay with BJP staff from the area a day earlier than the inauguration, Modi stated the submarine optical fibre cable will guarantee high speed broadband connectivity, quick cellular and landline telecom companies.
He stated 12 islands of the Andaman archipelago have been chosen for high-impact initiatives with an emphasis on boosting commerce of sea-based, natural and coconut-based merchandise of the area.
A submarine communications cable is a cable laid on the seabed between land-based stations to transmit telecommunication alerts throughout stretches of ocean and sea.
